CB Deonte Banks was on the side for what appeared to be a walk-through practice. He had a sleeve on his right calf. CB Paulson Adebo (?) was also on the side.
RB Tyrone Tracy wasn’t spotted during the open portion of practice. Wouldn’t jump to conclusions there. Heard he has been sick · Quoting Dan Duggan: Monday night game in Los Angeles has caused some tweaks to the Giants' schedule this week. They have practice today at 11:30 but they don't need to file their first injury report until tomorrow. Will still get a glimpse to see how Harbaugh's "fine" injury report on Monday holds up.
I'll have an eye on Deonte Banks. They were working on his right calf during Sunday's game. There can be a thin line between cramps and a muscle strain.
We'll have access to practice Thursday and Friday, but nothing on Saturday because that's when the team is traveling to LA. Can't recall the last Giants coach who left a day early for a West Coast trip.

The Giants' "unofficial" depth chart for Week 1 officially lists a few notable developments that we saw as the preseason progressed:
• Chauncey Golston as a starting DE alongside DJ Reader and Shelby Harris.
• Greg Newsome and Deonte Banks starting corners.
Also:
• Tyrone Tracy, Najee Harris and Devin Singletary all listed as RB2.
• Darnell Mooney listed as the starting WR alongside Malik Nabers.
• Kayvon Thibodeaux no longer listed as a co-starter with Abdul Carter.
• They list a starting nickel corner now, and it's Dru Phillips, as expected.
• Jevon Holland listed as the top punt returner. Uhh, no. That'll be Braxton Berrios.

- Sep 8 Pat Leonard (X) Giants’ 1st depth chart of the regular lists Deonte Banks ahead of the highly paid Paulson Adebo as a starting corner opposite Greg Newsome Darnell Mooney alongside Malik Nabers at WR with Fields and OBJ behind. Berrios not even listed there RB is listed as Skattebo and then everyone else in a jumble Jevon Holland is atop the punt return depth chart now, not Berrios. Deonte Banks and Devin Singletary the top kick returners

- Lost me at hexadecimal, but it really is crazy, especially with letting non QB/specialists were 0-19. Jake Haener is on the practice squad as the third QB. He's No. 12. Assume Hood had to switch because they'd need a number between 0-19 if Haener ever gets elevated. 0: OLB Brian Burns 1: WR Malik Nabers (unretired) 2: CB Deonte Banks 3: OLB Abdul Carter 4: Retired 5: OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux 6: QB Jaxson Dart 7: Retired 8: S Jevon Holland 9: TE Isaiah Likely 10: Retired 11: Retired 12: QB Jake Haener (practice squad) 13: WR Odell Beckham Jr. 14: Retired 15: P Jordan Stout 16: Retired 17: WR Darnell Mooney 18: WR Darius Slayton 19: QB Jameis Winston · Quoting Particle Man: @DDuggan21 Giants need to unretire some numbers. They have like 14 currently retired and they need 70 numbers for the regular roster plus PS players, plus a few more for guys on IR/PUP. Either that or switch to hexadecimal.
Game Plays 3 touchdowns, sacks, drives — live action, not lineup news
- Giants defensive snap counts vs. Cowboys: • As someone who charts the personnel live by hand, I appreciate that Dennard Wilson had very strong patterns to his substitutions. DJ Reader and Shelby Harris are clearly the top two interior DL. Getting away with playing the vets less than 50 percent of the snaps and holding the Cowboys to 3.8 yards per carry is a big win. When they were out on early downs, Darius Alexander and CJ Okoye took over. On third downs, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Chauncey Golston were the interior DL. Golston is a versatile piece. He can play DE in the base, DT in sub packages and OLB when needed in that rotation. • Thibodeaux is being asked to make the biggest sacrifice to accommodate this front seven because Abdul Carter and Brian Burns are playing nearly every snap on the edge. Nice hustle by Thibodeaux to chase Dak Prescott on his interception. Carter had a game like many in his rookie year, where there are no sacks in the box score, but his presence was…
- Giants have, in fact, elevated Berrios and Harrison · Quoting Dan Duggan: It’s Saturday, which means practice squad elevations/other transactions must be filed by 4 pm. WR/KR Braxton Berrios is a lock to be elevated. He’ll serve as the punt returner. Also expect him to return kickoffs alongside Deonte Banks. LB Malik Harrison is the other strong possibility. Harrison was a core special teamer in Baltimore from 2020-24, so I think they brought him in to play. The Giants have an open roster spot, but not expecting them to fill it today because signing a vet like Berrios or Harrison would guarantee their salary for the season. They can wait to sign one next week or continue the elevations for the first three games. As I noted yesterday, I don’t think the elevations will tell us anything about Malik Nabers’ status *unless* they sign/elevate a second WR from the practice squad. That would be a very bad sign. Otherwise, the intrigue will continue…

Giants Frighteningly Thin at Cornerback for Rams Game With Deonte Banks Questionable
6 more updatesfrom 3 sources
- 10h Dan Duggan (X) Nacua is questionable. Haven’t really seen any tea leave reading from LA to indicate the level of questionable · Quoting Dan Duggan: LB Micah McFadden (neck) and CB Deonte Banks (calf) both listed as questionable for Monday’s game at the Rams. McFadden was limited all week, so feel much more optimistic about him than Banks, who didn’t participate the past two days. RG Francis Mauigoa (shoulder) and CB Greg Newsome (rib) were upgraded to full participants today and have no game status so they’re good to go. The biggest injury question is Rams WR Puka Nacua, who is dealing with a hip injury.

- 12h Jordan Raanan (X) Doesn't look good for Deonte Banks. Paulson Adebo (knee) also on IR. This presumably has Colton Hood in line to start at cornerback opposite Greg Newsome. Tough spot for the rookie Hood vs. potentially Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. Wouldn't be surprised to see DB Ar'Darius Washington have a bigger role on Monday night as well. · Quoting Jordan Raanan: CB Deonte Banks (calf) didn't practice again Saturday. - 19h Dan Duggan (X) The Giants have their final practice of the week this morning. No media access because they’re flying out to Los Angeles this afternoon to have an extra time acclimating to the time change. Game statuses come out on the final injury report this afternoon. CB Deonte Banks’ status is the big one to monitor. We don’t know Harbaugh’s trends yet, but being a DNP in the second practice of the week is usually a bad sign. The biggest injury update will come later when we learn Rams WR Puka Nacua’s status after he was a surprise DNP yesterday with a hip injury.

Just walked off the practice field. Veteran corner Paulson Adebo was not out here at all.
Noteworthy, since Giants have to make a roster move with the addition of their new corner from Chargers Nikko Reed
Deonte Banks was on the side with trainers the whole time we were out here. Not encouraging for Monday, although still time · Quoting Pat Leonard: “Colton is a great corner. I’m thinking I want to see him go in & make a play. I don’t take anything personally. I’m gonna keep working my ass off.”
