- Oct 25 Dan Duggan (X) My theory on Nubin: He may be active just to serve as the personal protector on punts. That's an important role and Micah McFadden filled in for Nubin last week. With McFadden due for a full workload at MLB, his ST snaps need to be reduced. Might explain why ST coordinator Chris Horton was such a keen observer of Nubin's pregame workout · Quoting Dan Duggan: Well, Nubin is active, so guess it went better than it looked. Practice squad elevation Raheem Layne is also active, so some depth built in at safety. The inactives: • QB Jake Haener (emergency QB) • TE Theo Johnson • OL Marcus Mbow • OL Josh Sills • CB Greg Newsome • CB Nikko Reed • S Jevon Holland Mbow was questionable with a knee injury. JC Davis is the swing tackle today.

Nubin hit a pad, hit the goal post and did some DB drills. He then had a long conversation with ST coordinator Chris Horton and trainers and went back and hit the goal post a few more times. Didn’t seem to go well, but we’ll see when inactives come out in 35 minutes

- J.J. McCarthy QB2 on this week’s Giants depth chart behind Jameis Winston by virtue of Jake Haener technically being on the practice squad. But John Harbaugh did say it’s “on the table” that McCarthy is Sunday’s true backup in Washington
-
John Harbaugh says on Zoom that J.J. McCarthy being the No. 2 backup QB in Washington is a "possibility" and something that's "on the table."
McCarthy was one of three active QBs on Sunday against the Cardinals. He did not play, but he was engaged, looking at the play sheet on his wrist constantly, with his helmet on, throughout as Jameis Winston led the offense and Jake Haener was available, too

- Oct 5 Dan Duggan (X) Harbaugh said it’s a “possibility” that JJ McCarthy will be QB2 this week. They didn’t bring him in to sit behind Jake Haener on the depth chart, so I’d expect that to happen. Harbaugh said “we’ll see” on the center decision for this week. Harbaugh praised Bryan Hudson’s performance yesterday, but said John Michael Schmitz was playing “really well,” too. Called it a good problem to have.

- A few postgame notes from Harbaugh: • JJ McCarthy was active to give them the option in case they wanted to put him in the game to run plays they had prepared for him. It was "unrealistic" to make McCarthy the No. 2 QB though, so Jake Haener was also active. • Harbaugh said the center change was based on John Michael Schmitz missing "a couple of days of practice" due to the birth of his child. Bryan Hudson had been practicing well enough that they wanted to work him in. Harbaugh said the change made sense based on the circumstances, but noted it's "not a long-term thing." He said they have two centers they really like.
