Giants offensive snap counts vs. the Texans:
• The Giants subbed Jameis Winston in for five tush-push plays. He converted sneaks on a third-and-1 and a fourth-and-1. It took him two tries to sneak it in from the 1 for a TD. All of the sneaks opened up the 19-yard handoff to Cam Skattebo from the tush-push alignment.
• The backfield was shaping up as an even split before Tyrone Tracy left with a hamstring injury in the second quarter. Skattebo had played 14 snaps compared to 11 snaps for Tracy at that point.
Both backs and Devin Singletary played on early third downs. As the game progressed, Singletary took over as the third-down back while mixing in on early downs.
Skattebo indicated his hamstring was OK after the game and he has the bye to recover, but after Tracy's surprise addition to IR yesterday, let's wait and see where he's at when they return to practice next week. Skattebo missed chunks of time last offseason with a hamstring.
It's tempting to look at the results when…

I'll get to the defense shortly, but wanted to post this before anyone else gets cut! · Quoting Dan Duggan: Not enough hours in Mondays lately! Better late than never, here's the Giants' offensive snap counts vs. the Saints:
• Nobody, including Harbaugh, likes a four-man RB rotation. That needs to end. Eliminating Najee Harris from the equation is the obvious call. I note every week here how he has no juice. If he does fall out of the rotation, I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the next vet sent packing.
Devin Singletary has done a nice job in limited reps, so if they want to keep him in the mix, maybe as the third-down back, that's fine. But it's time to go back to featuring Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy. They're the best RBs on the roster. And both should benefit whenever the change to JJ McCarthy comes, as that will open up some lanes on zone reads.
Tracy played well Sunday considering no RB got anything going on the ground. Impressive YAC on the TD and multiple strong…

- Oct 19 Pat Leonard (X) Jameis Winston should continue to start at quarterback for John Harbaugh. A veteran hand gives the Giants their best chance to win the franchise's first NFC East title since 2011 in a weak division. But the Giants' coach sounded Monday like he may be leaning toward making the switch to J.J. McCarthy for Sunday's road game against the Houston Texans. Harbaugh referred to the Giants' ongoing search to "find themselves" when it comes to balancing the offense, running the football and reclaiming an identity they lost when Jaxson Dart went down in Week 2. The coach did not pick Winston or McCarthy on Monday. But it seems clear Harbaugh is leaning toward tabbing McCarthy as his starter soon, whether it's Sunday in Houston or on Nov. 8 in Philadelphia after the Giants' Week 8 bye

Giants-Saints pregame thoughts:
• Finally, no rain! Will be nice to watch a game that isn't heavily impacted by the weather.
• The Giants were forced into the best version of their offense because they were trailing by two scores in the second half of last week's game. Don't want Jameis Winston dropping back 60 times every week, but the best players on this offense are Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely. The offense needs to run through them. If you have to live with a bad pick here and there, that's OK because Jameis is also delivering yards/touchdowns.
• Nabers saying he's only 80% back is encouraging considering he has 17 catches for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. That seems like an accurate assessment because he has left some plays on the field while being productive. This matchup should provide an opportunity for another big game.
• Have covered the RB shake-up plenty. Not much more to say. I don't get the Najee Harris love from the coaching staff, but this…

Maybe I’m wrong but why is ricard on the field for 24% of plays ? · Quoting Dan Duggan: Apologies for the delay in the snap counts breakdown, but kids were off from school yesterday and puppy decided to snack on a sock so there was a fun emergency vet visit. Anyway, here are the Giants' offensive snap counts vs. the Commanders:
• I've never been a fan of rotating QBs. Even for all those years in New Orleans, I'm not sure taking one of the best QBs ever off the field for Taysom Hill was a smart strategy. And JJ McCarthy isn't Hill as a runner. They had a ton of confusion before one snap deep in the red zone (a 1-yard Tyrone Tracy run) and then Jameis Winston had a delay of game on the next play after shuttling back in at QB. • They're in a tough spot at RB. Cam Skattebo is their best back, but he hasn't been effective this season (3.6…

- Oct 13 John Keim (X) Daronte Jones is in charge of the D but interesting numbers. · Quoting Warren Sharp: you can talk about the late game botch, but Dan Quinn screwed up the game for the Commanders well before that first half, Quinn went 22% man coverage & 50% 2-high (#5 highest) held Jameis Winston 4.5 YPA, 44% comp & -0.58 EPA/att it worked but in the second half, despite losing, the Giants went WAY more heavy personnel, dropping 11 personnel from 43% to 25% ...but they passed out of it (of course they would, they were down 2 TDs) but Quinn matched personnel & played 43% man coverage (#5 highest) & 18% 2-high Jameis vs more favorable coverages in the second half? +0.67 EPA/att (#4) 68% success (#1) 3:0 TD:INT (#1) 10.7% TD rate (#2) Quinn was massively outcoached by Matt Nagy in the second half
