- Giants-Saints defensive snap counts (trying to post before any more cuts): • Slight uptick in DJ Reader's playing time. Has to be incredibly challenging to limit his snaps because he is far and away their best DT. His TFL on third-and-goal before halftime could have been a game-changing play. Shelby Harris is a tier or two below, and then it drops off a cliff when they get to the young guys. • Abdul Carter was dominant early with the consecutive holding penalties. Bad tackles just don't have a chance against him. He was on a pitch count while playing through a calf injury. He was quieter as the game progressed, but it also turned into a run-heavy second half. Kayvon Thibodeaux has been better the past two weeks, but they still need more. The roughing the passer penalty was just unnecessary. I'll just say the Jihad Ward release was not a surprise. Trace Ford is out of practice squad elevations. I'm not sure it's a lock that he gets signed to the 53. You're seeing the difference…

- Oct 6 Jeff Nowak (X) And just to finish off this note. This is how Alvin Kamara's 7 rushing attempts went: +4 (1st & 10) +2 (1st & 10) +3TD (2nd & goal) +4 (1st & 10) +3 (2nd & 10) +2 (4th & 1) +5TD (3rd & 1) You'd love a chunk play, but these are all fairly obvious run situations. All the negative plays came from others. Kendre Miller had a fumble and two negative runs. Barion Brown went -5 on his carry.
- Oct 6 Jeff Nowak (X) Kendre Miller and Alvin Kamara combined for 13 carries while the game was in reach. Two of AK's 7 rushing attempts were stopped by the endzone. The Saints' first 3 and out of the game came with three incomplete passes. Their second 3 and out started with a +4 run followed by a pair of aggressive, incomplete passes You had an undermanned defense and tackles that have been struggling in pass pro. The game plan should've leaned into shortening the game. You do that with the run game. +4, +3, +3 works just as well as +10. The Falcons seem to understand that. I'm not sure the Saints do.

- Sean Payton reveals the late night text exchange he had with Alvin Kamara after watching him coast through a practice, and explains how he challenged him to raise his standards if he really wanted to make the Hall of Fame “I text Alvin one night, Kamara, and he’s one of my favorite players, right? And it was a Wednesday. He had a tendency, he was so gifted, he could get bored. And then if he got bored, he might drop an easy pass.” “And he had one of those Wednesdays. In season, Wednesday is the first day of practice. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. And it was just a nonchalant day, and yet for someone who was so elite.” “I text him that night and I said, ‘Hey, I want to ask you a question. Can I coach you hard?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, why are you tripping?’ And I said, ‘Well, look, we’ll talk about it tomorrow.’” “And then, you know, it bothered him a little because he had to go to sleep. And then the next day he sees me in pre-practice, and I said, ‘Just let me explain this. Do you see…
