- Giants offensive snap counts vs. the Texans: • The Giants subbed Jameis Winston in for five tush-push plays. He converted sneaks on a third-and-1 and a fourth-and-1. It took him two tries to sneak it in from the 1 for a TD. All of the sneaks opened up the 19-yard handoff to Cam Skattebo from the tush-push alignment. • The backfield was shaping up as an even split before Tyrone Tracy left with a hamstring injury in the second quarter. Skattebo had played 14 snaps compared to 11 snaps for Tracy at that point. Both backs and Devin Singletary played on early third downs. As the game progressed, Singletary took over as the third-down back while mixing in on early downs. Skattebo indicated his hamstring was OK after the game and he has the bye to recover, but after Tracy's surprise addition to IR yesterday, let's wait and see where he's at when they return to practice next week. Skattebo missed chunks of time last offseason with a hamstring. It's tempting to look at the results when…

I'll get to the defense shortly, but wanted to post this before anyone else gets cut! · Quoting Dan Duggan: Not enough hours in Mondays lately! Better late than never, here's the Giants' offensive snap counts vs. the Saints:
• Nobody, including Harbaugh, likes a four-man RB rotation. That needs to end. Eliminating Najee Harris from the equation is the obvious call. I note every week here how he has no juice. If he does fall out of the rotation, I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the next vet sent packing.
Devin Singletary has done a nice job in limited reps, so if they want to keep him in the mix, maybe as the third-down back, that's fine. But it's time to go back to featuring Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy. They're the best RBs on the roster. And both should benefit whenever the change to JJ McCarthy comes, as that will open up some lanes on zone reads.
Tracy played well Sunday considering no RB got anything going on the ground. Impressive YAC on the TD and multiple strong…

Maybe I’m wrong but why is ricard on the field for 24% of plays ? · Quoting Dan Duggan: Apologies for the delay in the snap counts breakdown, but kids were off from school yesterday and puppy decided to snack on a sock so there was a fun emergency vet visit. Anyway, here are the Giants' offensive snap counts vs. the Commanders:
• I've never been a fan of rotating QBs. Even for all those years in New Orleans, I'm not sure taking one of the best QBs ever off the field for Taysom Hill was a smart strategy. And JJ McCarthy isn't Hill as a runner. They had a ton of confusion before one snap deep in the red zone (a 1-yard Tyrone Tracy run) and then Jameis Winston had a delay of game on the next play after shuttling back in at QB. The negatives outweigh the positives with the rotation. If you want to play McCarthy (eventually), just play him. Until then, let Winston be the QB.
• They're in a tough spot at RB. Cam Skattebo is their best back, but he hasn't been effective this season (3.6…

- Giants' offensive snap counts vs. Cardinals: • Cam Skattebo still the clear RB1. He's averaging 3.1 yards per carry over the past three games. It's very hard to have a run game with such little explosiveness. Love how hard he runs, but need to make a guy miss once in a while at the second level. I continue to be unimpressed by Najee Harris. Really lumbering. This backfield really needs some lightning to go with all the thunder. Fumbles haven't been an issue during Harris' career, but that could have been a killer at a time when ball security was paramount. Tyrone Tracy got more snaps after barely playing in the first three games. He split third-down snaps with Skattebo. If they're going to get explosives in the run game, they'll come from Tracy. Typical workload for Pat Ricard as the Giants played a lot of big personnel. • Offense looks a lot easier when Malik Nabers is involved. Liked scheming him touches downfield rather than force-feeding him underneath/screens. I still have…

I know I was labeled the “hater” on Odell all summer, but now I think we can agree it was a pretty big waste of energy spending so much time worrying about the WR 4/5’s role in an offense that plays so much heavy personnel.

- Sep 29 Pat Leonard (X) The Giants squeezed a couple months of good press out of Odell Beckham Jr’s return (it helped to have the headline of him making the roster while they were cutting No. 7 overall pick Evan Neal, for example) But they didn’t give him a meaningful opportunity on the field, even with Malik Nabers looking way below his normal self in the early going His release comes two days after the crowd at MetLife Stadium chanted “OBJ!” wanting him more involved OBJ finishes his Giants return season with 20 snaps, one target and no catches in three games. - Sep 22 Dan Duggan (X) Giants offensive snap counts vs. Rams: • You can't have a four RB rotation. Usage feels forced to get RBs 3 and 4 involved. Like Tyrone Tracy getting his lone snap/carry in a high-leverage situation after the fumble recovery deep in Rams territory. Weird spot to use a player with his ball security issues, but the 3-yard loss got negated by a defensive penalty. Then Cam Skattebo got a carry for no gain before Najee Harris was inserted for two carries (3 yards, -3 yards). No one got anything going on the ground, but Skattebo should be the back in all short yardage/red zone situations. Pat Ricard played 31% of the snaps after being at 54% in the opener. That felt game flow dependent, as the Giants mostly played 11 personnel while trailing in the second half. • Malik Nabers' snap share jumped to 74% from 52% in the opener. He only missed two snaps with the shoulder injury. Hard to say how much the lack of production was tied to his physical state and how much was the dysfunctional…
