- Oct 21 Pat Leonard (X) One interesting part of John Harbaugh switching QBs is that the Giants' offense was not involved at all in the biggest swing of Sunday's loss to the Saints. The Giants led 10-0 with 2:27 left in the 2nd Q: ⚫️ Special teams: Allowed 41-yard kick return to NO 44 yard-line. Saints kick a 58-yard FG SCORE: 10-3 ⚫️ Special teams: Charlie Jones fumble gives Saints 1st and 10 at Giants 28-yard line with 1:11 left in 2nd Q ⚫️ Defense: Allows 25-yard Tyler Shough scramble. Saints score a TD on 4th and goal HALFTIME SCORE: 10-10 ⚫️ Defense: Allows 5-play, 79-yard Saints TD drive. SCORE: 17-10 Saints Only then did the Giants' offense get the ball back in its hands. And yes, Winston's offense was a mess after that before the QB switch: ⚫️ Three straight penalties and Punt ⚫️ Interception ⚫️ 3rd down sack and Punt ⚫️ Interception I just don't think the quarterback is the reason the Giants are playing too much losing football in stretches lately. Maybe J.J. McCarthy can rescue the rest…

I'll get to the defense shortly, but wanted to post this before anyone else gets cut! · Quoting Dan Duggan: Not enough hours in Mondays lately! Better late than never, here's the Giants' offensive snap counts vs. the Saints:
• Nobody, including Harbaugh, likes a four-man RB rotation. That needs to end. Eliminating Najee Harris from the equation is the obvious call. I note every week here how he has no juice. If he does fall out of the rotation, I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the next vet sent packing.
Devin Singletary has done a nice job in limited reps, so if they want to keep him in the mix, maybe as the third-down back, that's fine. But it's time to go back to featuring Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy. They're the best RBs on the roster. And both should benefit whenever the change to JJ McCarthy comes, as that will open up some lanes on zone reads.
Tracy played well Sunday considering no RB got anything going on the ground. Impressive YAC on the TD and multiple strong…

- Oct 5 Dan Duggan (X) Giants' offensive snap counts vs. Cardinals: • Cam Skattebo still the clear RB1. He's averaging 3.1 yards per carry over the past three games. It's very hard to have a run game with such little explosiveness. Love how hard he runs, but need to make a guy miss once in a while at the second level. I continue to be unimpressed by Najee Harris. Really lumbering. This backfield really needs some lightning to go with all the thunder. Fumbles haven't been an issue during Harris' career, but that could have been a killer at a time when ball security was paramount. Tyrone Tracy got more snaps after barely playing in the first three games. He split third-down snaps with Skattebo. If they're going to get explosives in the run game, they'll come from Tracy. Typical workload for Pat Ricard as the Giants played a lot of big personnel. • Offense looks a lot easier when Malik Nabers is involved. Liked scheming him touches downfield rather than force-feeding him underneath/screens. I still have…

- Couple salary cap/roster notes: • The Giants are $1.3M over the cap, according to the NFLPA database. They will need to be under by Wednesday because top 51 accounting ends when the season starts. They don't need to do anything dramatic since they only need a few million to operate (at least for now). Paulson Adebo, Jevon Holland, Darius Slayton and Jon Runyan have the biggest base salaries for a restructure. It doesn't really matter who they restructure, but Schoen has typically avoided restructures on possible cap casualties, so from that group, I suspect Holland will be first up. • Schoen teased the signing of a veteran defensive lineman to the practice squad next week (don't think Jihad Ward's IG video was an announcement). They have the maximum of six veterans on their practice squad, so they'd need to cut someone from this group — WR Braxton Berrios, WR Jalin Hyatt, WR Charlie Jones, OL Darian Kinnard, DL Josh Tupou, LB Malik Harrison — to add another vet. The other option…

There were three new players suited up on the practice squad. One appeared to be C Kingsley Eguakun, who was just cut by the Browns. Made two starts for the Lions last season.
There were also two players named Jones, so a little tougher to pin down. My guess on the WR/KR is Charlie Jones, who was the Bengals' returner for the past three seasons. Don't think Braxton Berrios' job is in jeopardy, but Jones is a legit backup option.
My guess on the CB is Elijah Campbell, a third-round pick by the Cardinals in 2024. Missed his rookie season and saw limited action last season.

- Hell of a job by Sean Clifford on that drive. Great ball to Charlie Jones under pressure early, then wins the presnap chess match to find Williams for the TD. Between last week and this week, Clifford very much making the most of his opportunity.
