This game might hinge on Puka Nacua’s status. The Giants put Paulson Adebo on IR and I’m not expecting Deonte Banks to play due to a calf injury. That leaves Greg Newsome, who is banged up coming out of the opener, and rookie Colton Hood as the top corners with shaky depth behind them. Behind them are slot corners and players with minimal experience.
The Giants don’t have anyone to match-up physically with Nacua, but he may not play due to a groin injury.

- Giants defensive snap counts vs. Rams: • This was the matchup that was going to put the remade interior defensive line to the test. The Rams running backs averaged 6.8 yards per carry. DJ Reader and Shelby Harris have been around 50% of the snaps in each of the first two games. This was the expectation with two older DT, so that leaves a lot of snaps for backups. Darius Alexander was a healthy scratch, while the players in his place failed to make an impact. Chauncey Golston is playing a lot of snaps because he's a starting DL in the base (Giants played more 3-4 last night) and he rushes inside on passing downs. Still not convinced playing him inside so much is the best use of his skill set. • Abdul Carter with another heavy workload. Other than the sack, a quiet game. Has to be incredibly challenging to limit his snaps because he is far and away their best DT. His TFL on third-and-goal before halftime could have been a game-changing play. Shelby Harris is a tier or two below, and then it drops off a cliff when they get to the young guys. • Abdul Carter was dominant early with the consecutive holding penalties. Bad tackles just don't have a chance against him. He was on a pitch count while playing through a calf injury. He was quieter as the game progressed, but it also turned into a run-heavy second half.
