Giants-Saints pregame thoughts:
• Finally, no rain! Will be nice to watch a game that isn't heavily impacted by the weather.
• The Giants were forced into the best version of their offense because they were trailing by two scores in the second half of last week's game. Don't want Jameis Winston dropping back 60 times every week, but the best players on this offense are Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely. The offense needs to run through them. If you have to live with a bad pick here and there, that's OK because Jameis is also delivering yards/touchdowns.
• Nabers saying he's only 80% back is encouraging considering he has 17 catches for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. That seems like an accurate assessment because he has left some plays on the field while being productive. This matchup should provide an opportunity for another big game.
• Have covered the RB shake-up plenty. Not much more to say. I don't get the Najee Harris love from the coaching staff, but this…

I won't be surprised if the #NYGiants have a kicker tryout during the bye week and that there is a veteran PK at least added to the practice squad. Can't keep watching Dominic Zvada miss kicks.

Maybe I’m wrong but why is ricard on the field for 24% of plays ? · Quoting Dan Duggan: Apologies for the delay in the snap counts breakdown, but kids were off from school yesterday and puppy decided to snack on a sock so there was a fun emergency vet visit. Anyway, here are the Giants' offensive snap counts vs. the Commanders:
• I've never been a fan of rotating QBs. Even for all those years in New Orleans, I'm not sure taking one of the best QBs ever off the field for Taysom Hill was a smart strategy. And JJ McCarthy isn't Hill as a runner. They had a ton of confusion before one snap deep in the red zone (a 1-yard Tyrone Tracy run) and then Jameis Winston had a delay of game on the next play after shuttling back in at QB. The negatives outweigh the positives with the rotation. If you want to play McCarthy (eventually), just play him. Until then, let Winston be the QB.
• They're in a tough spot at RB. Cam Skattebo is their best back, but he hasn't been effective this season (3.6…

- Oct 11 Pat Leonard (X) Dominic Zvada with his first miss of the year on the field goal attempt. Giants still trail 6-0. Penalties on that drive hurt them badly
- Oct 11 Dan Duggan (X) Uncharacteristically shaky warmups from Dominic Zvada. Missed a few kicks and had a Younghoe Koo moment when he aborted an attempt as he approached the ball. He made a 59-yarder in one direction, then went 1-for-3 from 55 in the other direction (including the aborted attempt). Would expect a conservative approach with long field goals today.

Caught up with kicker Dominic Zvada yesterday. Yesterday's practice was a light one mostly for young players, but Zvada said Harbaugh had "some situational kicks today that he wanted to get me from deep." Zvada said he made those kicks. "(Harbaugh) continues to push me."
Zvada said the support from Harbaugh to stick by him after the two misses in Houston "means a lot." Zvada said his self-confidence "hasn't left."
As for the misses in Houston, Zvada said, “I just pushed them both. Honestly, I thought I hit them well. But when you go out there, you’ve got to make them. So I didn’t do that. Just pushed them both. I left my hip open and I didn’t get through the ball. So that’s what we were working on today. I feel like I did a really good job with it. It’s just what we’re going to keep doing moving forward.”
Zvada will continue his usual routine during the bye, kicking once more this week and possibly on the weekend depending on how he feels. He's looking forward to getting his next…

- 6d Dan Duggan (X) For context, I spoke to Zvada right after the draft, and this is how he explained his struggles at Michigan last year when he went 17-of-25 on field goals: "One of those things was swinging more inside. I felt when I was pulling the ball in game it was because I was getting outside and leaning too far, which was causing me to wrap around the ball. And then when I’d try to correct for that, I’d be pushing the ball a lot, so I’d miss right. For me, it was really tuning in and finding that sweet spot, which I think I really have." · Quoting Dan Duggan: Caught up with kicker Dominic Zvada yesterday.
