Giants-Saints pregame thoughts:
• Finally, no rain! Will be nice to watch a game that isn't heavily impacted by the weather.
• The Giants were forced into the best version of their offense because they were trailing by two scores in the second half of last week's game. Don't want Jameis Winston dropping back 60 times every week, but the best players on this offense are Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely. The offense needs to run through them. If you have to live with a bad pick here and there, that's OK because Jameis is also delivering yards/touchdowns.
• Nabers saying he's only 80% back is encouraging considering he has 17 catches for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. That seems like an accurate assessment because he has left some plays on the field while being productive. This matchup should provide an opportunity for another big game.
• Have covered the RB shake-up plenty. Not much more to say. I don't get the Najee Harris love from the coaching staff, but this…

- Oct 18 Pat Leonard (X) Copy and paste. He did it on the next play, too · Quoting Pat Leonard: Abdul Carter just drew a holding penalty on Saints LT Asim Richards. Backs New Orleans up
- Oct 18 Jeff Nowak (X) 2nd and 15 becomes 2nd and 25. Asim Richards holding penalties on back-to-back snaps. Unreal. · Quoting Jeff Nowak: Same story of offense. Holding penalty turns 2nd 5 into 2nd and 15.
- Oct 18 Dan Duggan (X) Saints backup LT Asim Richards can't block Abdul Carter. Going to need to send help there.

- The Saints had a planned off series for Asim Richards today, replaced by Myles Murphy.
- Backup LT Asim Richards gets less help than the first round pick he's replacing. By failing to adapt, Kellen Moore is setting his players up to fail.
- Refusing to adjust the protection plan and leaving Asim Richards on an island as often ass they did Kelvin Banks. Fuaga getting worse YOY. This coaching staff stinks to high heaven
- The New Orleans Saints held offensive linemen tryouts after Kelvin Banks Jr.'s injury and Asim Richards' shaky debut. Several have local connections.
- Going into this game I wondered how the edge rusher split would look from the Raiders. The tendency last week was for the Saints sent a ton of help to Asim Richards side when he was matched up with Trey Hendrickson, and they let him iso when it was anyone else. Maxx Crosby is a similar player and have to imagine the plan was similar. The two big turnovers came on plays where Koonce was 1-on-1 vs Richards. · Quoting Ryan Holmes: 3rd & 4, Leonard dials up glitch (5 man pressure, both DT drop, blitz the mike/will/nickel) to get a free runner at QB. Malcolm Koonce beats the LT quickly chopping left hand then turns corner for strip sack before the free runner (Johnson) even gets there. #RaiderNation
- Raiders pushed Asim Richards into Tyler Shough as he threw and it floated up where it could be picked off. Brutal sequence

Saints will have to lean on a backup OT for the foreseeable future. Expect that to be Asim Richards. Spoke with him yday and he seems like a much more confident player compared to this time last year. Still a massive challenge.
Immediate question will be: Do you trust Asim on the left side, or do you move Taliese Fuaga back over there temporarily? · Quoting Ian Rapoport: #Saints stellar OT Kelvin Banks Jr., who was carted off on Sunday, is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain, sources say.
He’ll have an MRI to determine the severity, but those injuries are often 4-6 weeks and would mean a stint on IR.

- Kelvin Banks is being carted back to the locker room. He started all 19 games at LT for the Saints since they drafted him. Looked like something lower-leg related. Asim Richards will be the next guy up.
