  Following up on what RBs coach Tony Dews had to say about Lan Larison, here is more insight from Dews on the Patriots' other two RBs expected to be active today: 🏈Rhamondre Stevenson: “He is an unbelievable back. I’ve had an opportunity to work with some really good backs, but his versatility and his mental awareness for football is elite. He can play all three downs, but I think he is really elite in the protection part of the game, and he obviously has a really good skillset. He catches the ball really well out of the backfield, he’s a good route-runner, and as a runner he has really good feet and he’s really smooth. He’s moving faster than I think people think. He has quickness, agility to make people miss, yet he has a strong lower body and can run with power. I think people get used to setting him up from an athletic standpoint, but then his balance and power – when he needs to run with balance and power – he has that as well. I’m excited to see what this season brings for him.…

  RB TreVeyon Henderson, who hasn't practiced since Aug. 24 with an ankle injury, has officially been downgraded to out for the opener. Rhamondre Stevenson should see the bulk of the RB work, with Corey Kiner the backup and Lan Larison and/or Hassan Haskins up from the p-squad.

  Some Patriots thoughts/news nuggets: 🏈This was a straight-forward cut-down day. No shocking moves. One of the more interesting decisions was keeping quarterback Behren Morton, the 2026 seventh-round pick from Texas Tech, as the third option. It speaks to the importance of the position; notable that four teams kept four QBs on initial 53-man rosters (Eagles, Falcons, Steelers, Vikings), which is unusual. 🏈Would be shocked if the Patriots don’t aggressively address OLB, either on the practice squad or a waiver claim. Teams aren’t giving quality pass-rushers away, but a player like Caleb Murphy – who played five games for the Patriots last season, was waived by the Giants, and would be a plug-and-play core special teamer at minimum – would provide the team with some much-needed experienced OLB depth. 🏈Five.
