A few observations after watching a replay of Bears’ 59-37 win over Panthers:
1/3 Jahdae Walker with an amazing all-around game. On offense, he caught TD pass, shielded defenders from reaching Kyle Monangai on 61-yard TD run, blasted CB on short reception by Kalif Raymond. On special teams, he walloped Jimmy Horn Jr. on 15-yard kickoff return. I asked Jahdae yesterday which play was his favorite and he said: “I like all of them equally just because before the game we were talking about [how] everyone has a role and I just wanted to star in my role.” HE DID!

- 4d Larry Mayer (X) 3/3 Kalif Raymond did a masterful job of sustaining three drives that resulted in touchdowns with key third-down receptions of 28 yards on third-and-11 in the second quarter, 12 yards on third-and-5 and seven yards on third-and-7 on a third-period possession and nine yards on third-and-six in the fourth quarter.
- 4d Larry Mayer (X) 2/3 Caleb Williams’ TD pass to Cole Kmet was elite, with analyst Drew Brees remarking: “The throw and the catch do not get any better.” But Williams was at his best IMO late in first half engineering a 6-play, 80-yard TD drive in 2:13. After being sacked on first play, he completed passes on four straight snaps for 72 yards, including a “jump man” 28-yarder to a sprawling Kalif Raymond and a 24-yard frozen rope to Luther Burden III. Williams followed with a 29-yard TD scramble. I’ve watched Bears since 1970s and have not seen another QB make plays like the ones Caleb produces.

- The #Bears signing Kalif Raymond felt like nothing special when it happened. Just head coach Ben Johnson adding someone he knew and trusted. After watching the game Sunday, it's possible he was the ingredient they were missing last season. And why that's truly scary. (1/2)
