Signal 2 most important first
- Shouldn't be confusing: -49ers traded a 2nd-round pick for Jimmy Garoppolo and ended up getting a half-decade of good play at the most important position. Injuries were the limiting factor there. -49ers traded a 3rd-round pick for Chase Young and got 9 games and 2.5 sacks · Quoting hayden: @LombardiHimself Kinda confused how jimmy wouldnt be in the same tier as chase young, both had to give up a good amount and they were both mediocre and both played a big part in a super bowl run with the team and everything after that wasnt notable

Jake Haener will serve as the #Giants’ backup QB this week against the #Titans. But other options are being discussed.
Mentioned on @BigDayESPN I expect Jimmy Garoppolo to be part of the discussion. Also think this would be one of a few gig he’d pursue. · Quoting Jordan Raanan: Jameis Winston is the Giants starting quarterback. A trade for another QB is possible.
“All options are open,” per John Harbaugh.

- Oct 12 David Lombardi (X) Jimmy Garoppolo was a very good QB for the 49ers. Thanks for proving another one of my points. But Jimmy couldn't stay healthy, and he's not Brock Purdy · Quoting Percy Harvin Sympathizer: @LombardiHimself Jimmy Garoppolo is also top 10 all-time in all these categories.

- Jimmy Garoppolo was good. Brock Purdy is at the very top of the NFL. I think it's really simple! · Quoting Tim Kawakami: If you don't think Purdy is clearly better than Garoppolo, I don't know what to tell you. You guys don't seem to want to accept that Shanahan hand-picked Purdy for this. That's not Shanahan. That's PURDY. It's the stats and more than the stats. I cite the stats as a baseline.

- Sep 21 David Lombardi (X) Jimmy Garoppolo: Good 49ers QB. Brock Purdy: Top-shelf 49ers QB. Garoppolo helped pave the way for Purdy — as 2022 Wk1 showed, would've been tough w/ Trey Lance. We can wonder where Jimmy would be without that 2018 ACL tear (he was #1 QBR in 2017) but injuries sullied his story · Quoting 49ersMuse: Jimmy Garoppolo vs Brock Purdy with the 49ers: Jimmy G: 57 GP 13,599 YDS | 82 TD | 42 INT | 99.2 RTG Purdy : 51 GP 12,177 YDS | 89 TD | 38 INT | 104.9 RTG Purdy has more TDs, fewer INTs and a higher passer rating in 6 fewer games. #49ers #9ersmuse

Explaining why this is different than previous years, McVay said Jimmy Garoppolo took all of the scout team reps when he was the backup, whereas this year they are going to ensure Bennett and Simpson continue to be developed. They feel good about both of them.
