- The #Panthers have easily the highest cap commitment to OL spending ($97.3 million, per Over The Cap) in the NFL ($26.4 million more than the next highest in cap commitment this year). But remember, through six games, $38.7 million (Moton and Ekwonu -- more than the team spends on RB and WR talent combined) of that cap charge has amounted to seven quarters of play at RT. Both Ekwonu and Moton's situations were out of Carolina's control. Ekwonu was guaranteed his fifth-year option seven months before he injured his patellar tendon, and Moton was diagnosed with a blood clot in the summer. Carolina spent a first-round pick on Monroe Freeling as Ekwonu insurance in the short-term and long-term. They also signed Rasheed Walker to fill the void. Their salaries also count in the big total.

Offensive Line Spotlight: Rasheed Walker shines in Panthers debut

- Jordan Morgan gave up a hit on Jordan Love and then gets called for a false start. So, Rasheed Walker
- This is a GOOD preview. · Quoting Clay Harbor: BEARS vs. PANTHERS early PREVIEW A few things I’m watching Week 1: ▪️ Carolina’s offense has to take a jump. Last year: 27th in scoring and 27th in total offense. Dave Canales has handed play-calling to OC Brad Idzik so Bears won’t have real tendencies on him. ▪️ Tet McMillan is a problem. 6’4”, 70 catches, 1,014 yards and 7 TDs as a rookie. Big play threat obviously. ▪️ Carolina is beat up at OT. Ikem Ekwonu is still recovering from his torn patellar tendon and Taylor Moton is out. They do have legitimate depth with former Packers starter Rasheed Walker and first-round rookie Monroe Freeling. ▪️ Jalen Coker is an underrated matchup. Really good from the slot. He only played 11 regular-season games last year, then went 9 catches for 134 yards against the Rams in the playoffs. ▪️ The Panthers invested heavily in their front seven. Jaelan Phillips gives them a legitimate edge threat, Devin Lloyd is a smart, versatile three-down LB…
