Saints practice today was a walkthrough today with some notable absences. Didn't spot:
- Chris Olave
- Barion Brown
- Anfernee Jennings (knee)
- Alvin Kamara
- LB Kaden Elliss (calf)
Also a few notable returns. Carl Granderson (ankle) was back practicing. The Saints have also opened the return to practice window for LB Jaylan Ford and DB Lorenzo Styles. Both guys looked to be moving well.
Brown was dealing with a hamstring injury previously and did get dinged up late. Kamara was dealing with a knee issue in the second half but finished the game. Olave took a hit to the knee area on the final drive.

- Oct 5 Jeff Nowak (X) Pete Werner is ACTIVE, but he'll be one to watch as the game goes on. He's playing, but he's certainly not 100%. Saints also have Jackson Sirmon active. Only real surprise is Christen Miller inactive, but probably more telling of how well Khristian Boyd has played than anything else. · Quoting Ross Jackson: #Saints’ inactives for Week 4: QB Zach Wilson (designated third QB) CB Decamerion Richardson (shoulder) EDGE Anfernee Jennings (knee) DL Christen Miller LB Kaden Elliss (calf) TE Noah Fant (abdominal) EDGE Carl Granderson (ankle)

- Oct 9 Will Ragatz (X) Two notable injury absences in Vikings-Saints: Vikings LT Christian Darrisaw Ryan Van Demark makes his 7th NFL start and first with MIN. He'll spend most of his time matched up against the Saints' best pass rusher, Chase Young, who has 13.5 sacks in his last 15 games. The Vikings probably have to give Van Demark some chip help and/or use quick passes to not let Young wreck the game. Saints LB Kaden Elliss Not a huge name, but one of the Saints' best players. Great tackler, run defender, blitzer. Not a coincidence that he missed his first game last week and the Saints looked helpless against the Falcons' run game. Pete Werner and Danny Stutsman really struggled.

Saints will only have a walkthrough on Wednesday with the short week. He noted there are a few players that are day-to-day coming out of Week 4 but doesn't sound like anything major.

Kellen Moore to speak shortly.

- One thing that really stands out when you watch Kaden Elliss is the blitz timing. He’s almost always 2-3 steps into his rush at the snap. · Quoting Cody Alexander: The Saints consistently attacked the Ravens' early down offense with boundary or open-side vertical pressures (Orton). In Clip 1, New Orleans attacks the open A-gap with tempo. Kaden Elliss is able to slip past the RG's block and secure the tackle before Derrick Henry can get momentum. The pressure also allows the Edge to climb, forcing a "give" read and funneling the play to the pressure. In Clip 2, the pressure again attacks the open-side, but this time against an under-center play-action. Lamar is blind to the pressure, and the five-man front in Base (3-4) creates man blocking. The RB is responsible for the play fake and blocking the LB. For Baltimore, the RG "posts" the Nose, which makes him late picking up the 5t. Elliss again makes a play in the backfield off the same pressure path. Learn how to build…

- I thought the Saints' rotations on defense yesterday were particularly interesting. Only four players got 100% of the snaps: - Justin Reid - Kaden Elliss - Kool-Aid McKinstry - Julian Blackmon On the edge: - Chase Young: 77% (59) - Carl Granderson: 77% (59) - Tyree Wilson: 30% (23) - Anfernee Jennings: 23% (18)
