Shemar Stewart’s time to show the Bengals what he’s made of has come
“While he has the athletic measurements of a No. 1 overall pick, his production left a whole lot to be desired.” “The lack of production relative to the traits is a concern; still, players who move like him are highly coveted.” “He’s also the highest-rated player in this year’s balancing act of marrying future NFL […]

Cashius Howell could redeem the Bengals for their Shemar Stewart selection
The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Baltimore Ravens in a wild 35-13 blowout that saw Joe Burrow and the offense completely shut out in the first half. It’s not often you see a team pull off a comeback and a blowout in the same game. Buried beneath the headlines, though, was the fact that 2025 first-round […]

- Oct 25 Paul Dehner Jr. (X) #Bengals inactives (all healthy scratches): S Russ Yeast C Connor Lew OT Myles Hinton DE Shemar Stewart DT Landon Robinson My thoughts on the Shemar Stewart healthy scratch: The Bengals extreme health on the DL coupled with a matchup-specific lean at other positions are why he lands here. The bottom line is Stewart missing camp and preseason has him behind a talented second-wave group. Cashius Howell, Cedric Johnson and Kris Jenkins have earned trust through productive play. They aren’t going to sit any them down for Stewart, who by all accounts is practicing well, but it's hard to prove enough in practice to supplant any of those three on gameday. Eventually, you have to believe Stewart’s moment to play will come with injury issues at some point during the season, it always does. Then, he can will have a path to get reps, start producing and earn his spot. Right now isn’t the time, the trust isn’t high enough. But I can say with 100 percent certainty this has nothing to do with…

When it comes right down to it for Bengals safety Bryan Cook and Texans running back David Montgomery, Sunday’s game (1 p.m.-Cincinnati’s Local 12) in Houston won’t be a whole heck of a lot different than that week at practice when their Mount Healthy High School dream team went deep into the Ohio playoffs a decade ago.

- A few thoughts from the first coordinator Monday of the season. #Bengals DC Al Golden sat down with us today. - Shemar Stewart ramp up enjoying a big surge lately. They are still figuring out a plan, but "very encouraged and excited" about how he looked today. There's a process getting him back to speed with consistency, but not starting at zero this time: "We can’t do anything about lost time. Clearly, this is Year 2 for him, too. It’s not like a year ago where everything is new, both technique and concept. From that standpoint the journey shouldn’t be as long to try to get him back." - In terms of leadership from new captain Dexter Lawrence, pointed out in Year 8 he's still one of the first three on the field every day. "He’s setting a really, really good example for a lot of the guys in our locker room in terms of what it takes to be among the elite." - One line uttered in passing stood out to me: "hitting on Cashius, I can't underscore how important that is because he's come…
