- Just a comedy of errors here. #Eagles get a false start from Markel Bell with the play-clock expiring on fourth-and-4 in the red zone. Then an illegal formation penalty on Jordan Mailata wipes away a made field goal. Then Jake Elliott doinks it on the re-try. · Quoting EJ Smith: Play stupid games ...
- They’ve clearly got Saquon on a pitch count … why waste one of those pitches on a give-up play? · Quoting EJ Smith: Still no Saquon Barkley on this drive. It's been all Elijah Mitchell. He's doing about every hamstring stretch I've ever seen on the sideline right now. No trainers around him or anything, though. #Eagles
- Not seeing Jonathan Greenard here, either. · Quoting EJ Smith: Greetings from #Eagles practice, where I do not see DeVonta Smith or Tay Wicks. I *do* see Dallas Goedert going through warmups.

Eagles vs. Jaguars: 8 winners, 8 losers, 6 IDKs
The Philadelphia Eagles nearly had this game won. Nearly. Instead, they’re 2-3 with the Jacksonville Jaguars handing them their third straight loss. Time to hand out winners, losers, and I don’t knows. For even more analysis, check out my appearance on the PHLY Eagles postgame show along with Vinny Curry, EJ Smith, Anthony Gargano, Bo […]
- Jordan Mailata on now being the only remaining starter from the #Eagles Super Bowl LIX team: · Quoting EJ Smith: The average age of the #Eagles starting five offensive linemen at the time of Super Bowl LIX was just over 28. Yet there's a real chance Jordan Mailata is the only one of them who will start for the team this Sunday vs. the Jags. Crazy how quickly the group deteriorated.
- An encapsulation of what kind of day it was the for the #Eagles offense on third down: · Quoting EJ Smith: Saying nothing of the call, rough rep for Cam Jurgens on that third-and-2 run. #Eagles
- 0-for-11. #Eagles try to draw the Rams offside on fourth down, but are sending the punt team out with 3:07 left in the fourth quarter. · Quoting EJ Smith: They're now 0-for-10 on third down. Defense has been excellent today, but it's been another worrying second-half performance from the offense. Elements may be playing a factor for both offenses, but still ...

Elements may be playing a factor for both offenses, but still ... · Quoting EJ Smith: #Eagles are now 0-for-8 on third down. Per @TruMediaSports, they haven't won a game without converting on a single third down since at least 2000.
- Quinyon Mitchell is walking toward the #Eagles sideline and going into the medical tent now. Walking slowly, but under his own power. · Quoting EJ Smith: Quinyon Mitchell is injured. Getting looked at by trainers now. #Eagles
- #Eagles offense goes three-and-out. Protection has been shaky in the first half. Somewhat understandable with all the moving parts, but it's stalling drives. · Quoting EJ Smith: #Eagles defense forces a quick three-and-out courtesy of a really nice run stuff from Moro Ojomo and an open-field tackle from Riq Woolen the play before. Big opportunity for the offense coming up.
- Moot point. Jake Elliott is good from 56 yards out. #Eagles lead 6-3. · Quoting EJ Smith: Really tough sack to take there. #Eagles
- And it works! Jalen Hurts finds Makai Lemon for a 13-yard gain. #Eagles · Quoting EJ Smith: It's fourth-and-2 from the 47-yard line. Nick Sirianni keeps the offense on the field ...

Here's the explanation: You can only use the full 48 spots on the active roster if you have eight offensive linemen active.
With Lane Johnson being ruled out late, the #Eagles only have seven active offensive linemen and therefore couldn't use that final spot. · Quoting EJ Smith: I'll be curious to hear Nick Sirianni's explanation for the #Eagles only dressing 47 players for today's game, especially with Cole Payton a healthy scratch.
Teams are permitted 48 on the active gameday roster (49 with a designated third QB.)

- Oct 4 EJ Smith (X) How are we already trying to blame Nick? It’s pretty clearly a result of their all-pro right tackle deciding to take a personal day an hour before the game starts. What the fuck would you like Nick to do about that? · Quoting EJ Smith: I'll be curious to hear Nick Sirianni's explanation for the #Eagles only dressing 47 players for today's game, especially with Cole Payton a healthy scratch. - To clear this up, this is much more of a reflection of the personnel rather than Sean Mannion. I'd argue he doesn't have a better choice right now, but that doesn't change the fact that the #Eagles are not ahead of the curve compared to the Johnson's and McVay's of the world. · Quoting EJ Smith: Not to become the multiple TE sets guy (shoutout @pdomo), but most of the league's best offenses are going toward heavy sets just as the #Eagles lean the furthest into being an 11-personnel offense.
- My main takeaway: The #Eagles run game craters in the second half to an almost inexplicable degree. · Quoting EJ Smith: Going through where the #Eagles rank offensively in the first half vs. the second. What stands out to you?
- *taps the sign · Quoting EJ Smith: Gotta toss out these swing passes to Makai Lemon, btw.

OK, here's everything I saw from the press box ...
Hurts goes in the medical tent with what I presume is the NFL's concussion spotter.
The concussion spotter came out of the tent and went to look at a video monitor with Hurts still in there.
Hurts came out of the tent to watch the game while he waited, and saw Dalton throw the red-zone interception. He was clearly frustrated not to be in the game.
He's now on the sideline with the rest of the quarterbacks. Seems OK. #Eagles · Quoting EJ Smith: Jalen Hurts just came out of the medical tent just in time to watch that Andy Dalton red-zone interception.
He is fired up on the sideline now as (I presume) he waits to find out if he's cleared to return. #Eagles

- Sep 28 EJ Smith (X) The weird thing here is that the concussion spotter left the tent and watched the video of the hit back. Is that part of the protocol? · Quoting EJ Smith: Jalen Hurts was evaluated for a concussion but isn ow cleared to return, per the #Eagles.

- Zach Ertz: “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they put me here. … that’s something I’ve really taken pride in during the latter stages of my career.” #Eagles · Quoting EJ Smith: Zach Ertz’s locker is right next to Eli Stowers now. An ideal mentor for the #Eagles rookie TE.
