Dane Belton’s time with the Giants was hard on him, playing for a coaching staff he never felt believed in him, or was honest with him.
The experience drained a lot of his joy for the sport he fell in love with as a kid, and his friends and family could feel it.
Then Aaron Glenn called on his first day of free agency. Since coming to the Jets, he feels like himself again. And the Jets are reaping the benefit.
On Belton’s journey, free to all

And Belton is hoping it leads to him staying with the Jets beyond this year. In between some plays, Dane Belton was going to Aaron Glenn on the sideline for a quick chat. He was taking on Minkah Fitzpatrick’s role on the fly — and against the Titans he passed with flying colors.
“In the moment it was strictly: What’s my job and how do I need to accomplish it?” Belton said.
This was a staple of Glenn’s defenses in Detroit — losing talent, not missing a beat.
That skill will be tested this week against the Packers. The last time Glenn faced them, he was down five starters. They won anyway.
