Day 20, final day of training camp:
- Derwin James picked off Trey Lance on a pass intended for RB Amar Johnson. It looked like there was some miscommunication between Lance and Johnson. James later had what would’ve been a TFL on a Kimani Vidal run.
- WR Dalevon Campbell had the catch of the day on a pass from DJ Uiagalelei, making a leaping TD grab over Rodney Shelley, who was draped all over him. Campbell has consistently made highlight-reel grabs throughout camp.
- Oronde Gadsden beat Emany Johnson down the sideline for what would’ve been a TD from Justin Herbert, but Gadsden dropped the pass.
- Charlie Kolar had a bunch of catches throughout practice.
- OLB Andre Carter got into the backfield for what would’ve been a run stop early in practice. Carter also had a pressure where he quickly beat Travis Burke. Carter has been really impressive since arriving about two weeks ago. He could be a guy the Chargers try to keep on the practice squad if another team doesn’t grab him.

- Khalil Mack to the #Bears felt so close to an inevitability at one point. Now, with the trade deadline closing in, things have changed. Why a reunion with #52 may be sacrificed in favor of a more pressing need.
- 10. As fun as the Khalil Mack idea is for #Bears fans, the priorities have shifted ahead of the trade deadline. This team needs another body at cornerback. They're going to play some great passing attacks in the playoffs, and Simmons alone can't cover all of it.

- Oct 27 David Lombardi (X) This is a fair opinion and the logic behind is why I personally thought Quenton Nelson would be a good fit for SF. But the reason the 49ers don't see it that way: -They collectively have the #1 pass-blocking OL *and* the best QB at avoiding sacks in Purdy -Offense is already top-2. It's the defense that's in danger of falling out of the top-10 The 49ers see more perceived value on defense, and they ultimately got Buckner + Osa for less than Seattle paid for Quenton Nelson. This leaves SF with optionality to get even more — whether it be another DL like Khalil Mack or WR fortification (Josh Downs?) · Quoting Joseph Danna: @LombardiHimself I disagree it was the biggest need. The worst starter on the team is the LG. Not only didn’t we upgrade to the best in league when we had the chance, we let our biggest threat get him.
- Oct 27 David Lombardi (X) Next to watch on the trade market... In 2018, the 49ers actually made the strongest offer for Khalil Mack, but the Raiders didn't want to do business with the 49ers so they traded Mack to the Bears. Mack would've become DeForest Buckner's teammate then. Perhaps he'll join him now

- Chargers 6, Seahawks 20 - Justin Herbert continues to have the worst stretch I can remember covering this team. He threw two interceptions directly to Seahawks defenders. - Even with his struggles, Herbert's been pressured all day. He was pressured 12 times (66% of his dropbacks), per NGS. He's been sacked twice. - Omarion Hampton only has four carries, despite averaging 6.5 YPC. (Kimani Vidal has 4, Keaton Mitchell 3) - One bright spot has been the Chargers defensive line. They've pressured Darnold 9 times, per NGS (60 % of his dropbacks). Khalil Mack sacked him once.
