Good read.
Point one is the most important · Quoting Chris Kouffman: Some more thoughts on the Dolphins game yesterday with SOME of the film review in the can:
- Miami needs to figure out how to prevent rookie CB Chris Johnson being singly targeted on over a THIRD of all pass plays, because that's what happened. Cousins ran the entire passing attack thru a rookie who was asked to play both inside and outside, with hardly any personnel-mixing to give the Raiders an extra layer of complexity. The problem is they didn't feel Kyle Louis was ready for this game, so they only played him 3 snaps, and he injured his knee on one of those 3 snaps. Figuring this out and not getting the rookie's confidence in the toilet should be top priority.
- From a defensive standpoint the Dolphins will throw away the first 5 drives, where they allowed the better part of 50 yards per drive and 6 yards per play to go along with the 24 points, and try and build on the second 5 drives, where they allowed…

Miami's gonna play a ton of Zone and a ton of Nickel. Chris Johnson is the Nickel and he's not told Nickel style where he's 5'10", feisty, and super quick. It's the new style of Nickel defender that can physically matchup with TE's.
Repeating myself on purpose to emphasize this point --- Miami is going to play zone all day and all season long.
Bowers will need extra attention - extra eyes, rolling coverage, shades, brackets, jams and bumps and traffic at the LOS from the Edges.
Last year Kubiak used heavier personnel roughly 60% of the time. The Raiders don't exactly have the best WR room and their 3 best weapons are a RB and their 2 TE's.
Kubiak also wants to run the football and if they plan on walking Mendoza out there at some point they're gonna want him to have some help and a run game established the best they can. The Raiders are going to try and run the football and they're going to do it in their bigger personnel packages.
Rarely do you get Corners covering TEs,…

- De’Von Achane, Aaron Brewer, Jordyn Brooks, Patrick Paul, Zach Sieler, Kadyn Proctor, and Chris Johnson. But the last two haven’t proven it yet. · Quoting Jason Kirkland: @OmarKelly O, only going by production, not projection, I say Miami has 5 players who are better than average. How many do you see?
- Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley clarified that new CBs Reese Taylor and Jaylin Simpson have both have experience playing nickel CB. That means Miami has 5 players who can/will/might man the nickel. Chris Johnson, Jason Marshall Jr (early last season), Kyle Louis (big nickel), Taylor and Simpson (who is on the PS squad)
- If the Dolphins media had done this exercise this summer, I think my vote would have gone to CB Chris Johnson. Most consistent start to finish.
