- Oct 18 Eric Branch (X) Serial spitter? #49ers’ Kyle Juszczyk says C.J. Gardner-Johnson spit on him in 2025
- I forgot Kyle Juszczyk. He is a future Hall of Famer. So some more resume padding from Nick Bosa + Brock Purdy — and the 49ers may have 8 future Hall of Famers playing for them this season. They have **at least** 6, and likely more. Maybe a youngster breaks through too. Insane
- TE Jack Stoll is the 49ers’ second practice squad elevation for Seattle. This allows Brayden Willis to fill Kyle Juszczyk’s FB role while padding SF’s depth at tight end
- Time to expand on this: Does no Kyle Juszczyk mean that the 49ers will lean more heavily into 11 personnel? Seattle, with its nickel reliance, essentially dares teams to go heavy. But that hasn’t worked too well for offenses. And 49ers can now go bigger with 3-WR sets (Deebo).. · Quoting David Lombardi: Seattle essentially didn't leave its nickel package and still shut down the 49ers' run game late last season. A big SF problem: They didn't have a healthy plus-WR to threaten any separation that could, in turn, space the run game. A healthy Ricky Pearsall actually tilted the Week 1 game in the 49ers' favor. So both of these guys, whom SF didn't have last season, will be key for very specific reasons: Mike Evans for spacing and perimeter blocking — making running vs nickel more manageable. And Deebo Samuel for his multi-positional versatility: He's strong enough to bruise lighter defensive packages without committing the 49ers to run or pass, regardless of where he lines up. Elite…
- Seattle had a historically good defense last season — particularly run defense. And technically they've been even better to begin 2026. Lower numbers better: 2025 run D EPA: -0.205 2026 run D EPA: -0.238 2025 run D success rate: 35.8% 2026 run D success rate: 30% Consistency is most impressive. It's harder to maintain elite year-over-year defensive play than it is to do the same on the offensive side. Of course, it's still relatively early but that caveat applies to the other side as well: The 49ers' run game (#10 EPA) appears much improved from 2025 and is the best one Seattle will have faced so far this season. The 49ers' prioritized personnel packages without Kyle Juszczyk available will be especially interesting. Almost certainly, success through the air will be necessary to open some room to run against such a dominant defense
