- Sep 9 Mike Kaye (X) Not going to speculate on injuries or the like, but the logic I could see in choosing Moon over Gill is this: - Gill is a situational pass rusher, and you’d prefer to give guys like Umanmielen, Trevis Gipson and maybe even Thomas Incoom (who will active every week because of special teams) those reps over Gill. - If you think Moon is a better run stopper than Gill, and think their special teams value is equal or close, that makes sense, given Pat Jones and Jaelan Phillips’ history of injuries and the need for early down run support. - Gill wasn’t a hot commodity after an impressive pass rushing preseason, not sure a week in practice will change that (there’s no new data or film). - Gill has played an entire spring season, maybe they want someone they know who has relatively fresh legs. · Quoting Mike Kaye: The #Panthers announce they’ve released OLB Cam Gill from the p-squad to make room for Moon, who officially signed this morning.
