Patriots Sign 12 Players to the Practice Squad; Make Additional Roster Moves
The Patriots announced today that they have claimed TE Cameron Latu off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles and LB Darius Muasau off waivers from the New York Giants. In addition, the Patriots announced that they have released LB K.J. Britt and C Ben Brown, and they have placed P Bryce Baringer and LB Khalil Jacobs on injured reserve.

Both Baringer and Jacobs are eligible to return this season.

- Some Patriots thoughts/news nuggets: 🏈This was a straight-forward cut-down day. No shocking moves. One of the more interesting decisions was keeping quarterback Behren Morton, the 2026 seventh-round pick from Texas Tech, as the third option. It speaks to the importance of the position; notable that four teams kept four QBs on initial 53-man rosters (Eagles, Falcons, Steelers, Vikings), which is unusual. 🏈Would be shocked if the Patriots don’t aggressively address OLB, either on the practice squad or a waiver claim. Teams aren’t giving quality pass-rushers away, but a player like Caleb Murphy – who played five games for the Patriots last season, was waived by the Giants, and would be a plug-and-play core special teamer at minimum – would provide the team with some much-needed experienced OLB depth. 🏈Five.
